: This is the first @marimbapop video I ever did. It was scary and daunting to put out what I wanted, to go against the “classical marimba” route and to make something with modern pop sounds. I think that pressure was ultimately all in my head - many mallet players have played jazz and hip hop and pushed the limits - and I really wanted to too! Putting on recitals in college prepared me for the planning and coordination day-of. But putting it out into the world with my name on it was vulnerable! What would classical heads think?? Well, apparently they like it :) I also wanted to highlight and work with my talented friends - they made the whole process so much easier and fun. Never underestimate human connection! I can do this all on my own now, but they really helped the vision come alive and carry on to what it is today. I’m sure you have some friends like this, right? On this song we have Ivan Wayman for his amazing production, engineering, and mixing work, Noah Temple for his creative video and editing skills, and Missy Furth for her design input and helping with lights and setup. These people helped me focus on the playing and the music while they did what they do best. Their skills brought my vision alive to make an amazing song and video! They created and started Marimba Pop just as much as I did that day. Enjoy - Where Are U Now (Marimba Pop Cover) by Jack U ft. Justin Bieber
